🧗♀️It's International Women’s Day!
PLUS: Megos Gets a Massage

It’s Pump TIme Baby 💪
Howdy. FlashPumped here. We’re the weekly newsletter that guides you through a climbing safari. Those lions might look friendly but they’ll destroy your forearms.
A lot was going on this week…

Here’s what we’ve rustled up for ya:
International Women’s Day
Eva’s been in Arco
Boulderers prep your passports
Trad just keeps getting Harder and Harder
SXSW Kicks Off!
And finally💆
With that big list, let’s go

It was International Women’s Day!
Last Wednesday, 8th March 2023, was International Women’s Day.
In celebration of this Arc’teryx have produced a moving 3 part mini-series on 3 of Squamish’s most active women climbers 📽
Pass it On, shows each of their roles in the community, what inspires them and how they’re helping make the outdoors more accessible to all.
It’s a great window into what motivates people, and shows that there’s more to climbing than just hard grades on perfect rock✌️
Eva’s Been in Arco
Eva Hammelmuller, a 22 year old climber from Innsbruck has had a pretty good year so far.
She started the year by ticking La Ligne Claire, 8c+, in St Leger, France. And now she’s done her second, Pungitopo, in Arco, Italy.
The route was first sent by Adam Ondra last year, and features discontinuous cracks up a very blank vertical wall 🔬⛰
Looks technical!!! 🛠
Boulderers Get Your Passports
Are you sick of the current terrible weather in Europe? 😢
Then, a bit of Wadi Rum Sun (aaaahem 🤦🏻♂️) could be just what the Doctor ordered.
But mentioning Jordan to most people, brings Petra, the Dead Sea or Lawrence of Arabia to mind.
Until now…
Gripped reports that Jake Tiger, a Squamish climber, met up with local climbers and developers in the region and has produced a 31-minute video showcasing some of the potential there.
And just check out these two guys Instagram profiles and you can understand the hype 😍
Talking About the Middle East…
Reel Rock 17 is opening it’s doors in Utah this pretty weekend! 🌻
Along with the Undercover Crusher battling DNA, our favorite climbing film EVA also features Resistance Climbing, a film telling the story of Palestinian climbers using the sport as a place for community and solace.
Now we just have to wait for it to get to Europe.

Trad Just Keep Getting Harder
What was originally a veeeeery high highball has now been converted into a trad route 🧐
And with the first ascent by Ignacio Mulero done and dusted, El Boulder del Pedal, 8c+, joins the ranks of the hardest trad routes out there.
We can thank Nalle Hukkataival for talking Ignacio into placing a few cams on the way up! 😰
British grit climbers approve 👏👏👏
We’re nearly done!
SXSW Week
It’s South-by-Southwest time in Austin, Texas!
This is THE master shindig of a conference. Professionals from different walks of life come together to celebrate tech, film, music, culture and will basically be doing the dirty over the next 9 days.
Wild Life, Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi’s latest love child will be (pre)screening as part of the film festival 🥳
The film is an epic portrait of Kris Tompkins, former Patagonia CEO and co-founder of Tompkins Conservation. Together with her late husband, The North Face founder Doug Tompkins, the pair spent the last decades establishing national parks in the South American region of Patagonia.
Jimmy Chin, our Maître filmmaker, will also be headlining the Fast Company Grill over the weekend.
Maybe I’ll pop over for quick one 🍻
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the trailer.
Megos Get a Massage
Annnnd finally…
The German Juggernaut is in The Red for a quick spree.
And in classic Megos style he:
Had a massage 💆
Then, did the first ascent of Last Report, 8b+
On his rest day. I wish I’d known to keep the 8b+’s for rest days!!!
As you do Kind Sir 🫡
From The MotherShip
Many climbers are worried they’ll look like a beefcake if they have too much protein. But your body might be thinking otherwise to recover well and avoid injury.
And Beyond…
Certain university students have developed a strange medical “t-shirt allergy” condition when bouldering. The poor souls. Hopefully they’ll find a cure soon 🤞💉👩🏻⚕️
Bacon & Waffles
🤣🤣

That's it for today. Time to go back to bed! 🛌
